Gospel Artist Tye Tribbett to Perform At the Staples Center
Written by Steven
Grammy winning and Soul Train nominated Gospel Artist, Tye Tribbett, will be performing at the iconic STAPLES Center on August 7, 2011 immediately after the Los Angeles Sparks play against the Minnesota Lynx. The said event is part of the Sparks’ yearly Gospel Night and is presented by the Los Angeles County Tobacco Control and Prevention Program.
For patrons who have already bought tickets for the Sparks-Lynx game, there is no additional cost for the LA Sparks Gospel Night f/ Tye Tribbet concert. Lower level ticket prices range from $10 to $55. Moreover, special group pricing is also being offered for bulk ticket orders.
Tribbett rose to prominence in the Gospel music scene following the release of his debut album, “Life” in 2004. The album featured his personal choir, “Greater Anointing”. His debut was well-received by critics and fans alike, describing it as revolutionary, thought provoking, and a must have. Due to the great reviews, his debut reached the Billboard Top-10 Gospel Chart in the year it was released.
In 2006, his Tribbett avoided the so-called sophomore slump by releasing “Victory Live!” In fact, this album was more successful than his debut due to the fact that it produced a number one Gospel Radio single, “Victory”. Moreover, the album also earned him three Grammy nominations and two Stellar Award victories as well.
Tribbett’s third and fourth albums, “Stand Out” and “Fresh” were released in 2008 and 2010 respectively. Just like his earlier outings, both albums turned out to be critical and commercial successes, with the Washington Post describing “Fresh” as a “wondrous album”.
Just like most Gospel artists, Tribbett wants his listeners to gain an insight of what his heart feels. In an interview with Soul Train, Tribbett said that he wants his new album, “Fresh” to be about the heart and the hype. Tribbett adds that over the course of his career, he feels that he has matured a lot and is now more compassionate of others.
Although “Fresh” was just recently released in the market, Tribbett says that he already has the material for his next album. This is due to the fact that he wrote a surplus of songs for “Fresh”, about 30 to be exact. However, he was only allowed to put 16 on the current album.
Tickets for the LA Sparks Gospel Night f/ Tye Tribbet on August 7 are available online via LASparks.com. They are also available at all Ticketmaster outlets, the STAPLES Center box office, and through phone at 877-44-772757. Aside from his concert in the STAPLES Center, Tribbett is planning on starting the “Fresh Tour” at the end of the first quarter of 2012.
The LA Sparks Gospel Night f/ Tye Tribbet is definitely an event that should not be missed, not only for the team’s fans but for lovers of Gospel music as well.
